Fair & Expo delights residents, guests

By Staff | Mar 1, 2013

Sanibel’s annual Community Fair & Retail Expo last Sunday at the Community House was a great event for families who turned out to enjoy the fun, sunshine, raffle prizes and the opportunity to learn more about businesses on the island.

Many Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce member businesses and organizations set up exhibits and distributed information about their business and services to hundreds of locals and island guests. Every exhibitor held its own raffle so there were lots of opportunities for the attendees to win prizes.

The Sanibel Fire truck was available for photos as well as a giant inflatable slide, face painting by Miss Silvia and complimentary hot dogs from Bailey’s General Store were just a few of the outdoor attractions this year.

Inside the Community House, some new exhibitors joined the Retail Expo for the first time. These included B Unique Boutique, Sanibel Chiropractic, Island Photography, Zoomers, Zebra Frozen Yogurt and Norris Home Furnishings.

Another first timer was Jungle House Publication, which brought along their star Trouper the Blind Raccoon to pose for photos throughout the event. Billy’s Rentals provided water for all the attendees and the Coffee Bar at Bailey’s provided coffee.

Ric Base, Chamber of Commerce president, said, “We were delighted with the turnout at our annual Chamber Retail Expo. There was a great atmosphere and community spirit around, everyone seemed to have a good time and had the opportunity to learn more about our diverse group of island businesses.”
