A marker recognizing the former Sanibel School for colored children has been installed outside the current Lily & Co. Jewelry Store. Marking the occasion are, from left, Marty Harrity, City Council liaison to Sanibel Historical Museum & Village and historical preservation committee member; Historical Museum & Village president Alex Werner; Yvonne Hill, historical preservation committee member; Eugene Gavin, family historian of the Gavins and Walkers; Dan Schuyler, co-owner of Lily & Co.; and Ron Gavin, brother of Eugene.
