Carlene Wehner
Carlene H. Wehner, 75, of Cape Coral, passed away on Aug. 29, 2011. She was born on Feb. 24, 1936 in Chicago, ILL., a child of Henning Carl and Helen (Hansen) Benson. Carlene was a resident of Cape Coral for the past three years and previously lived in Fort Myers from 1982 to 2008.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, graduate of Western Michigan University, teacher, real estate salesperson, manager, banker, past president of the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club and a long term member of First Presbyterian Church.
Carlene taught at the Portage Northern High School in Kalamazoo, Mich. Locally, she was the Director of Owner Relations at the Sundial and Grand Island Vacations, both on Sanibel where she was active with Rotary. She loved to play the piano, read, do crossword puzzles and her pets.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward A. Wehner, former District Governor of Rotary International.
She is survived by her daughter and family, Lisa Plantefaber, Steven Fischel and Henning Fischel of Amherst, Ma., her son, John Plantefaber of Cape Coral, two stepdaughters and their families, Laura Clute and Linda Drenth of Kalamazoo, Mich. and a brother and his wife, Carl & Pat Benson of Kalamazoo, Mich.
