Tribeca Salon welcomes a new addition to its style team

By Staff | Apr 28, 2011

Alexandra Drouhard, left, is the newest stylist to join the team at Tribeca Salon Hair and Nails in The Village Shops. She stands with partner stylist Nicholas Melchiorre outside the family-owned salon.

To Alexandra Drouhard, cutting and styling hair is a form of art. It is something she has been passionate about since she was a little girl.

“I’ve always wanted to cut hair,” said Drouhard, who is the newest member of Tribeca Salon team. “My favorite thing about being a hair stylist is the ability to be artistic.”

Drouhard studied to become a cosmetologist at The Salon Professional Academy, a Redken 5th Avenue School in North Fort Myers. After four years of training at a few other salons, Drouhard landed at Tribeca to help clients find a new look that will fit their personality and needs – for both men and women.

“I help clients achieve not just the style they are looking for, but the style they need,” she said.

The family-owned salon has been serving the Sanibel community from The Village Shops for the past three years. It started with owners Domizio and Rosemary Melchiorre noticing a void in their community for a salon focused on hair with a relaxing and confident atmosphere. Domizio has more than 30 years experience in the business and is joined in the salon by his son Nicholas, who has six years experience.

“We place a high precedence on customer service,” said Nicholas about the salon’s mission.

In addition to providing male and female islanders with sophisticated new looks, Tribeca offers expert coloring, manicures, pedicures and facial waxing. It has also been very active in the Sanibel community since it opened. The salon does what it can to support local charities.

“We believe in the community of Sanibel,” said Nicholas.

And Drouhard, is no stranger to the island. Her family has had a vacation home on Sanibel for many years, even though she grew up in the Cleveland area.

“I love working on Sanibel,” Drouhard added. “(Tribeca) is the only place I truly feel comfortable and I enjoy the clientele.”

Tribeca is located at 2340 Periwinkle Way in Suite D-1. Drouhard can be found in the salon during its regular business hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. To make an appointment, call 395-3800. Walk-ins are also welcome.
