Massachusetts pegger shows locals how cribbage should be played

By Staff | Apr 14, 2011

Doug Moore showed the locals how to play Cribbage as posted a perfect five win card and a 605 total to capture Mini-Tournament #2 on April 11 at American Legion Post 123. Moore hails from Mashpee, Massachusetts. He and his wife rent a home on Sanibel for March and April each year.

Butch Bouchard was runner-up again with a 585 total. Bouchard also had high hand of the night with a 23. Taking third place was Becky Skog, who managed a 532 total without winning a single game.

Bob Buntrock, top scorer from last week’s tournament, proved that Cribbage is a fickle game as he managed to score only 517 points and was sole occupant of last place this week.

Monday night’s Mini-Tournament was the second of three being run on Monday nights at Post 123 starting at 6 p.m. Interested players should sign in by 5:30 p.m. The entry fee is $5.

On Monday, April 25, all players competing in any of the three Mini-Tournaments will meet in round-robin competition to determine Sanibel’s 2011 Cribbage Champion of Champions. Last year’s winner was Dar Rizzo.
