Q & A with South Seas’ Suzanne Lennon

By Staff | Dec 2, 2010

This week’s Q & A features South Seas Island Resort’s Communications & Community Relations Manager Suzanne Lennon. A native of Southwest Florida, Suzanne recently joined the South Seas family after working in both New York and Los Angeles. Read on to find out more about this witty, well-traveled marketing pro, including her passion for sports and her absolute favorite holiday tradition.

Where did you grow up?

I’ll let you know where I am when it happens.

What’s your family like?

The Lennons are a hilarious bunch. I have an ever-growing family that now includes seven nieces and nephews. My parents, brother and sister-in-law and their five children live in Tampa. My sister, brother-in-law and their twins live in Los Angeles.

What brought you to South Seas?

I’ve lived in New York City and Los Angeles since I graduated college, so to have a position like mine open up in my home of Southwest Florida, I immediately jumped at the opportunity.

We hear you’re a big sports fan — what teams do you root for?

I’m a huge sports fan! My teams are the Florida Gators, Boston Red Sox, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the LA Lakers. Occasionally you’ll find me rooting for the Minnesota Vikings as well due to Percy Harvin.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I spend time with my boyfriend Patrick and my “second family” that consists of friends I’ve had for almost 16 years. I travel whenever I can, including recent trips to Jamaica and Ecuador. I’m a Scrabble and crossword puzzle fan and have been working on my amateur cooking skills.

What’s something people might be shocked or surprised to learn about you?

The thing that seems to shock and surprise most people on the island is that I live in Naples!

If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, who would it be?

This is a hard one. I would probably choose President Obama.

What are you short-term and long-term goals, both personally and professionally?

Personally, my short-term goal is to finish my holiday shopping before Christmas Eve for once and to spend more time with my family over the holidays. My long-term goals are to get married and start a family because clearly my parents need more grandchildren. Professionally, my short and long-term goals are to remain at South Seas and continue building the relationships with the community members I’ve met while working on the Captiva Holiday Village, such an amazing group!

What’s your favorite holiday tradition?

My favorite holiday tradition is waking up at the crack of dawn to watch my nieces and nephews tear open their presents from Santa. It’s impressive how they can destroy a living room in 16 seconds.
