Come enjoy the Captiva Holiday Village
November 24, 2010
To the editor,
As we contemplate Thanksgiving celebrations, our thoughts turn to giving thanks and that in itself is a gift. On our islands, we have so much for which to be grateful; indeed such gratitude is itself a blessing.
As we consider reasons for gratitude, we should each enjoy the accompanying blessings. Importantly, be grateful that we share greater participation in respective community fundraising and celebratory events: Sanibel, Captiva and Lee County. This advances common causes, mutual enjoyment and fulfillment of our communities. We should be grateful for each other and for our charities as we come to realize much is needed now, more than ever. Give thanks and keep on giving.
This seems as good a time as any for the Mullins family to announce $10,000 in charitable matching gifts to accompany the Captiva Holiday Village (CHV) fundraiser. Ourcaptiva.com and the Mullins' share of a new annual matching gift program will be divided annually among local charities (to be selected by the givers) as well as the special charities we support including Haiti and Tanzania, Africa. All of us will have opportunity to give, as we give thanks;especially, as we use such matching gift programs.
Captiva businesses, resorts, community residents, Chapel by the Sea, CEPD, Captiva Community Panel, CPOA, SCCF and cooperative organizations have been working hard to go all out for the First Annual Captiva Holiday Village (details at snipurl.com/chv ) which celebrates Thanksgiving, giving and the upcoming holidays. This includes friends and supporters from Sanibel, TDC, Florida artists and all helping the CHV celebration. Special holiday events are planned from Thanksgiving through mid-December including a skimusa.org Pro/Am Skimboard competition on Dec. 10, an evening Boat Parade, decorated Golf Cart parade, and many awesome events.
We hope to see friends from all over Lee County for the CHV. Captivans generously support many Sanibel, Lee County and Fort Myers functions and needs. Captivans will be grateful to see many of you at these exciting CHV functions. At the same time, Captivans need to continue to give generously at a time when much is needed by so many.
Call family, friends and associates on Sanibel, Lee County and beyond; please feel free to use this as an example to send to your mailing lists. We need each other and so many need us. We are grateful for all your past and future contributions; thank you and keep on giving in this time of great need.
Please join Captiva for a fun time of giving and enjoyment. Share the program and share this link: snipurl.com/chv
