Stilwell seeks recipes, ideas for island cookbook concept
September 3, 2010
As the owner of Keylime Bistro, RC Otters, Latte Da Coffee Shop, Cantina Captiva, Sunshine Seafood Cafe and Captiva Pizza, it’s safe to say that Captiva resident Sandy Stilwell knows good food.
“Many people who visit my restaurants enjoy the food and email me with requests for the recipes,” Stilwell said.
This gave her an idea — to create a special cookbook filled with her restaurants’ most-requested recipes in addition to popular restaurant and resident recipes from both Sanibel and Captiva.
“I am asking island residents and businesses to submit recipes via email to me by Nov. 1. We will format and do the rest. The books will be sold at two of my stores on Captiva, Latte Da Coffee Shop and also Captiva Pizza,” Stilwell said.
Recipe submissions for anything and everything are welcome and submitters will receive credit for their recipes.
But if submitting the recipe of your grandma’s famous apple pie to the ranks of some of Captiva’s most coveted culinary formulas isn’t incentive enough, there’s more.
“The money raised from the sale of the cookbook will go to the Salvation Army and Soup Kitchen to feed the hungry,” Stilwell said. “I love bringing people together for a good cause. We all will feel pride in knowing it was a collaboration of many people and their favorite recipes.”
But even if you don’t like to cook, in addition to recipes, Stilwell is asking islanders to submit creative title ideas for the cookbook.
To submit your recipe, including ingredients and steps for preparation, e-mail Sandy Stilwell at Sandy@captivaislandinn.com.
